WASHINGTON (12/5/14)--Credit Union National Association President/CEO Jim Nussle and former CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica, both former members of the U.S. Congress, will participate in a panel discussion today on the "Hollywood-ization" of Congress and how misperceptions can affect advocacy efforts.
Hosted by the Congressional Management Foundation and produced by the Beekeeper Group, the event will address how television shows such as "Alpha House" and "House of Cards" influence constituents' attitudes toward Congress, organizers said.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon (ET) at the Beekeeper Group's offices. Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m.
"The misimpressions left by fictional accounts of Capitol Hill don't only hurt Congress' image with the American public, they create obstacles to grassroots organizers seeking to motivate their supporters to take action," organizers said.
Appearing with Nussle and Mica will be several members of the media and a college professor.
