WESTBROOK, Maine (5/18/15)--If this year’s Maine Credit Union League annual golf tournament is any indication, 2015 could shatter the fundraising record for Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger.
The May 14 tournament, held in conjunction with the league’s annual meeting, brought in nearly $60,000--almost $10,000 more than 2014’s record-setting total.
"To not only set a new record but to do so by such a significant margin reinforces the popularity of the event, and the willingness of people and organizations to help," said Jon Paradise, league vice president of governmental and public affairs (Weekly Update May 15).
The nearly $60,000 is both the highest amount raised at the golf tournament and the highest one-day fundraising amount for the hunger relief campaign.
In 2014, the league announced that a record $552,257.43 was raised through the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger.
