WASHINGTON (6/23/15)--CUNA will monitor several hearings in the U.S. Congress this week, before the House and Senate adjourn for their July 4 district work sessions. This week’s hearings include topics such as terrorist financing and the financial sector, and the National Flood Insurance Program.
Today, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will conduct a full committee briefing on “Review of the National Flood Insurance Program.” On Wednesday, it will have a full committee hearing about “Assessing and Improving Flood Insurance Management and Accountability in the Wake of Superstorm Sandy.”
Also on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. (ET), the House Financial Services Committee will have a full committee hearing on “Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing--Evaluating the Security of the U.S. Financial Sector.” Task force members will examine the means used by terrorist groups and others in exploiting the U.S. banking system to raise and launder funds.
On Thursday, the House Financial Services Committee oversight and investigations subcommittee will address “Examining Continuing Allegations of Discrimination and Retaliation at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.”
