LIMA, Ohio (7/24/15)--Consumers in Lima, Ohio---and beyond--will have a little bit easier time purchasing a first home thanks to a donation from Superior FCU.
The Superior Foundation, Superior FCU’s charitable arm, donated $60,000 to Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs (LACCA) to support its first-time homebuyer down payment Assistance Program.
The program takes people looking to buy their first home through the entire homebuying process, including securing a mortgage. Participants can receive up to $4,000 in down payment assistance upon completion of the program. Since its inception more than a decade ago, almost 600 homebuyers have completed the program, with 96% of them still in their own home.
"We take great pride in supporting programs that prepare local men and women to become community stakeholders and promote financial independence," Superior CEO Phil Buell said. "We cannot think of a better partner for this grant than the Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs, which has a long track record of improving the lives of those in our community."
Due to cutbacks, LACCA had to restrict its program only to those living within the city of Lima, but with this donation, it can expand that program to homebuyers outside the city.
