MERIDEN, Conn. (7/29/15)--The New England College of Business (NECB) is offering a free three-credit, eight-week undergraduate course on fundamentals of banking to the Connecticut Credit Union League member credit union employees.
NECB is the league’s corporate education partner.
Fundamentals of Banking is available to new staff who are within their first 12 months of employment, as well as to directors and committee members who are within their first year of credit union volunteer service.
As part of its ongoing mission to support corporate training and development, NECB will make the course available to new credit union employees and volunteers six times per year, with the next scheduled course starting Aug. 31.
Fundamentals of Banking provides students with an overview of the history, purpose and functions of banking. The course focuses on how financial institutions serve the needs of individuals, businesses and government in today's marketplace.
At the completion of the course, students will better understand the importance of a sound financial institution system and the structure of the Federal Reserve, the league noted. Students will learn how to assess regulations and risk management and discuss trends in member retention and growth.
