NEW YORK (8/12/15)--Card issuer American Express announced that eligible U.S. corporate cards can be added to consumers’ Apple Pay accounts.
Apple Pay now allows eligible card holders to pay with mobile devices at contactless retail merchants or within participating apps that accept American Express. American Express added Apple Pay for consumer cards and OPEN small business cards in late 2014.
In other Apple Pay news, the drugstore chain Rite Aid announced Tuesday that it would begin accepting the payment method at its 4,600 stores beginning this weekend (USA Today Aug. 11). Rite Aid, which also added Android Pay acceptance, had initially turned away from Apple Pay and Android Pay in favor of CurrentC, a payment app supported by a consortium of retailer and food chains.
