SEATAC, Wash., and BOISE, Idaho (9/8/15)--A collaboration by the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) and the Idaho Credit Union League (Idaho CUL) opened new training and networking opportunities for nearly 150 credit union professionals from three states through two video networking conferences.
“The opportunity to network ‘face-to-face’ with other credit union staff members in our region is invaluable and would not be possible without the use of this video technology,” said Kris Watkins, compliance/security officer at CapEd CU, Meridian, Idaho. She attended the sessions and served as an onsite host for one.
The video conferences were hosted Aug. 25 and Sept. 1 in seven cities throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
The August event was attended by 62 marketing, business development and community outreach specialists, in an expansion of NWCUA’s Networking Council program. The September event for the Compliance Council attracted 85 participants from credit unions in all three states.
Locations for the networking conferences included NWCUA and Idaho league offices, and credit union facilities in Eugene, Ore., Spokane, Wash., and Lewiston and Pocatello, Idaho.
“This successful collaboration with the NWCUA is allowing Idaho credit union professionals to connect with more of their colleagues, share experiences and create added value forums for change and talent development,” said Kathy Thomson, president/CEO of the Idaho league.
A video conference “is much more connective than an e-mail or a phone call. This innovation will result in a higher level of cooperation among cooperatives--one of our guiding principles in the credit union movement,” said Denise Gabel, NWCUA chief operating officer.
