MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (9/29/15)--Consumers throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island are the prime audience for a new credit union consumer awareness campaign that began Monday. The “Better Values. Better Banking” campaign is sponsored by the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA).
The campaign encourages consumers to seek out and join a credit union to do their banking. CCUA said it believes consumers will enjoy a better banking experience at credit unions because of the values and principles that credit unions practice daily (Daily CU Scan Sept. 28).
The campaign’s radio commercials, social media activities, community events and other advertising initiatives will drive consumers to the campaign’s website and focal point, BetterValuesBetterBanking.com.
The website offers information about credit unions, including 15 reasons to join, frequently asked questions and a brief history of U.S. credit unions. It also helps consumers search, by entering a ZIP code, for a local, convenient credit union they can join.
The site encourages social media engagement through Facebook and Twitter. It also directs consumers to special charities supported by each of the three states’ credit unions. The charities are Special Olympics in Rhode Island, Make-A-Wish in New Hampshire and the Coalition for the Homeless in Massachusetts.
CCUA also is conducting a Casting Call program for video interviews to help boost the social media posts. Member credit unions are hosting CCUA’s mobile video studio. In the interviews, CCUA Strategic Communications Senior Vice President Walt Laskos asks members about their experiences with their credit union and what makes it stand out from other financial institutions. Video clips of the interviews will appear in social media and future television commercials as another way to promote and share the credit union story.
The campaign’s first phase runs through January 2016. Then it will move into phase two, with details announced later.
