FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (10/15/15)--The Cornerstone Credit Union League continues to see memberships climb, as it recently welcomed Gilt Edge Employees FCU, the ninth credit union to re-affiliate with the league in 2015.
With the addition of the Norman, Okla.-based credit union, Cornerstone, which serves credit unions in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, now boasts nearly 550 credit union members.
CUNA has seen 78 credit unions re-affiliate this year, pushing to the trade association’s membership total up to 5,245, or roughly 85% of all U.S. credit unions as of Oct. 1. Fourteen re-affiliations were state-chartered credit unions, while 64 were federally chartered.
News Now will report additional league membership re-affiliation numbers in the coming weeks.
“The amalgamation of the three states that now constitute the Cornerstone league has been a big success,” said Dick Ensweiler, Cornerstone president/CEO. “Our enhanced product and service offerings, supported by our tight alliance with system partners such as CUNA, CUNA Mutual Group, CO-OP Financial Services, Catalyst Corporate FCU and others, have proven to be appreciated by our members. In our annual member survey they rated us very high. Potential members also say they witnessed improved and effective advocacy from the system and it has enhanced our relevance.”
Mike Delker, Cornerstone senior vice president of credit union relations, said that the number of re-affiliations this year reflects Cornerstone’s commitment to providing a comprehensive package of services to its credit union members.
“Our commitment to serve Cornerstone credit unions and the credit union system is unwavering, whether the service and support is delivered by staff in the field working with the credit unions or the staff in one of our five offices in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas,” Delker said. “I think the number of new members this year, coupled with our latest net promoter score of 75, tells us we are on the right track.”
Twila Rogers, Gilt Edge president/CEO, said that regulatory burden and compliance fueled the credit union’s decision to become a Cornerstone member.
“The Cornerstone Credit Union League has the resources we need to help us stay on top of these compliance challenges,” she said.
