TAMPA, Fla. (10/21/15)--Tampa, Fla-based Suncoast CU has launched a private health insurance exchange portal for members.
The new custom-branded marketplace will allow members to compare health insurance options through Members Insurance Center LLC, a subsidiary of Suncoast CU.
“This venture will allow our members to have access to quality, comprehensive medical insurance in a trusted and safe environment,” said Mona Russell, vice president of insurance for Members Insurance Center. “Offering health insurance, which is a concern for many, is yet another extension of our mission to improve the lives of our members.”
The portal, which can be accessed through the credit union’s website, was developed by HealthPlan Services, which works with many companies and organizations to provide such services.
HealthPlan’s platform gives members a choice of options rather than selling only one brand of insurance. Total enrollment through private exchanges is expected to reach roughly 40 million people by 2018, a number that would surpass publicly funded marketplaces offered through the Affordable Care Act, according to Accenture.
