NEW: ‘Drive’ author Pink tapped for ED (Filene) Talk at CUNA GAC

October 22, 2015

WASHINGTON (10/22/15, UPDATED 12:12 p.m. ET)--Daniel Pink, author of the blockbuster motivational book “Drive,” will be the speaker for the ED (Filene) Talk, sponsored by CUNA Councils, at the 2016 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) Feb. 21-25 in Washington.

“We are thrilled to bring Dan Pink and his work and ideas to credit union leaders and thank CUNA Councils for sponsoring the ED (Filene) Talk,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle.

Pink’s general session appearance is set for Sunday, Feb. 21--the first day of the CUNA GAC, which brings thousands of credit union leaders to Washington.

Pink’s presentation is based on his latest book, “To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others.” He will outline a 21st-century approach to sales based in social science and proven best practices.

“Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us”--which reached No. 1 on The New York Times best-seller list--draws upon behavioral and social sciences to explore how today’s workforce is motivated.

He also hosts the National Geographic Television program “Crowd Control.” His 2009 TED Talk, “The Puzzle of Motivation,” ranks among the 10 most-watched of all time. Pink served as chief speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore and as an aide to U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich.

This is the second ED (Filene) Talk sponsored by CUNA Councils. At last year’s inaugural event, retired four-star Gen. Stanley McChrystal engaged the audience with his messages of anticipation, adaptability and communication.
