WASHINGTON (10/29/15)--Jim Nussle has been CUNA president/CEO for just over a year and already has appeared twice on The Hill’s annual list naming the top lobbyists in Washington, D.C.
Announcing its 2015 honorees Wednesday, The Hill noted Nussle’s eight terms as a U.S. congressman from Iowa and his years as the director of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget. The list contains top lobbyists from associations and grassroots groups.
According to The Hill, those on the list “climbed to the top of their profession, demonstrating an ability to influence Washington’s power brokers” on behalf of the groups they represent.
CUNA’s advocacy efforts over the past year have primarily focused on regulatory relief and data security. CUNA has written to both houses of Congress to urge the passage of legislation that would enact a strong national data security standard.
CUNA’s regulatory relief priorities on Capitol Hill have included: facilitating easier credit union access to the Federal Home Loan Bank program, statutory changes to the member business lending cap, bills that would require legislators to more closely analyze the impact of rulemakings and more.
The Hill's list of top lobbyists is created based on conversations with aides, other lobbyists and members of Congress. The newspaper covers lobbying and Capitol Hill activities. It is read largely by congressional members, their staff and lobbying organizations.
