HILLIARD, Ohio (11/25/15)--Credit Union of Ohio, Hilliard, Ohio, has opened a branch at a new retirement community in its home city, the credit union announced this week.
The limited-service office, which will be open at the Stone Oak Retirement Community several days a week, will provide residents an opportunity to manage their finances on-site, something other financial institutions were unwilling to do.
“This new location gives us the opportunity to show our credit union spirit,” said Jill Gerschutz, CU of Ohio spokesperson. “While other banks may have passed up the offer to serve this private community, we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
The credit union said that serving the retirement community will fulfill a need among seniors for convenient access to financial services.
It also will continue the credit union’s work in serving seniors in general, as Credit Union of Ohio already offers checking accounts, loans and certificates customized to the needs of seniors.
“Almost half of our residents don’t drive, so it’s a convenience for them to have access to an ATM and banking services on site,” said Josh Brown, Stone Oak community manager. “To my knowledge, this is our first location with a credit union.”
