MADISON, Wis. (12/2/15)--From doubling down on charitable pledges to sharing best practices for community good, credit unions were heavily involved in Giving Tuesday.
The #GivingTuesday social campaign is a global day dedicated to celebrating generosity and giving something more to charities, communities and causes.
The National Credit Union Foundation held a Twitter chat that included credit unions’ charitable activities and tips for philanthropic success.
For each #CUGiveBack photo shared Tuesday, CUNA Mutual Group pledged $10 to support reality fairs, such as the ones highlighted by the foundation in a new video.
Other credit unions promoted their do-good campaigns such as coat collections, giving trees and food drives.
Belco Community CU, Harrisburg, Pa., committed a total of $1,500 to support three local soup kitchens and aims to send a group of employee volunteers to local soup kitchens quarterly in 2016. And, Central One FCU, Shrewsbury, Mass., donated $2,000 to the Shrewsbury Education Foundation.
