DENVER and RALEIGH, N.C. (2/4/16)--This weekend’s Super Bowl 50 between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers has a lot at “steak”--including the bragging rights for either the Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) or the Carolinas Credit Union League (CCUL).
Both regions are awash in craft beer, which made it a natural fit for a wager. But the leagues upped the ante by adding their regional specialties to the pot: Carolina barbecue and Colorado bison.
If the Broncos win Sunday in San Francisco, CCUL President/CEO John Radebaugh will send beer and barbecue to the Rockies. Should the Panthers win, the MWCUA will ship beer paired with bison to the east, said MWCUA President/CEO Scott Earl.
“We are confident that the Denver Broncos will bring home the Lombardi trophy,” said Earl. “And while that’s really all we need here in Colorado, I can’t resist some good BBQ, so winning will be extra sweet once that package arrives from John.”
In response, Radebaugh said, “Of course we are happy to accept the wager because we are confident that we’ll be the ones enjoying Colorado-raised bison steaks as we celebrate our victory!”
