MADISON, Wis. (4/4/16)--Two forums hosted by the Credit Union National Association kick off in Salt Lake City today: the CUNA Payments Roundtable and the all-new CUNA Data Analytics Roundtable.
The CUNA Payments Roundtable is produced by the CUNA Technology Council in conjunction with the CUNA Center for Professional Development and endorsed by the CUNA CFO Council and CUNA Operations, Sales & Service Council.
The CUNA Data Analytics Roundtable is produced by the CUNA Center for Professional Development and endorsed by the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council.
John Best, president/CEO, Best Innovation Group, a CUNA consulting partner supporting CUNA’s efforts in advocacy, compliance and keeping credit unions informed, who will host sessions during both events, told News Now that data analytics and payments “go very much together” in today’s technology-driven financial services marketplace.
“And as both spaces are getting smaller and smaller, with more niche players,” Best said. “That only makes credit unions more viable.”
The key to viability, Best said, is collaboration, a credit union strength. He cited data analytics as an example.
“Not everybody needs a data scientist,” Best said. “It can be shared amongst a number of credit unions. We can’t just keep buying packages and think that’s the answer. We still need someone to run the rodeo within the credit union, but we can outsource other pieces of it. Events like this are a great place to start that conversation.”
