The agenda for the NCUA’s May board meeting is short and sweet: a board briefing on call report modernization and a quarterly update on the Temporary Corporate Credit Union Stabilization Fund. The meeting will take place May 19, and is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. (ET).
Modernizing the call reports could be a step toward enabling examiners to conduct more examination steps off-site. Then-chair of the NCUA Debbie Matz said reducing on-site examination time by half is one of the agency’s goals with these modernizations.
In its comment letter on the NCUA’s strategic plan for 2017 to 2021, CUNA called for the NCUA to develop goals for implementation of a revamped call report and AIRES software.
NCUA Chair Rick Metsger said in a speech Thursday that the NCUA would begin a “thoughtful, thorough” review of the examination process.
A live stream of the meeting will be available on the NCUA.gov homepage, starting at about 9:45 a.m. (ET) May 19.
