The Arkansas Credit Union Association met with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for a roundtable discussion June 7.
CEOs and staff members from 11 credit unions from around the state met with CFPB's Jennifer Stockett, David Silberman, Julian Alcazar and Eric Goldman.
“I was very proud of our Arkansas credit unions," said Arkansas Credit Union Association President Reta Kahley. "They were considerate but honest with the CFPB about the ramifications of some of their rulemaking. Our discussions, while healthy, were also very member focused on how rules could be adapted to help the consumer but also not impinge upon the credit union’s ability to serve their members.”
Among the topics discussed were CFPB rulemaking and finalization of some proposals. Of particular interest were payday lending; mortgage lending rules; overdraft protection.
