CUNA has revealed that “The Authentic Difference” will be the theme for this year’s International Credit Union Day, held on Oct. 20.
The annual celebration honors the rich history of the credit union movement and recognizes the achievements of credit unions worldwide.
“The term ‘credit union difference’ is thrown around so often that it’s sometimes easy to forget what that actually means,” said Jeremiah Tucker, CUNA consumer engagement program lead. “Ultimately, what distinguishes credit unions from other financial institutions is a set of core principles and values that focus on making a positive difference in members’ lives. We look forward to using this year’s ICU Day to educate consumers around the world about the authentic qualities that make credit unions special.”
Each year, credit unions celebrate ICU Day through initiatives that raise awareness of the credit union movement and give back to their community. Popular ICU Day events include contests, parades, charitable fundraisers, parties and open houses.
CUNA will once again team with Credit Unions for Kids on ICU Day for Shop for Miracles 2016. Through this campaign, participating credit unions will make a donation to a local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for each credit or debit card transaction made by their members on Oct. 20.
CUNA offers a range of ICU Day promotional materials, including case studies, graphics, and T-shirts.
