The opening day of CUNA’s America’s Credit Union Conference in Seattle on Sunday featured an inspiring speech from keynoter Alex Sheen, an encouraging message from homestate Congressional representative Denny Heck (D-Wash.), and the presentation of the Credit Union Hero of the Year award by Credit Union Magazine to former VSECU President/CEO Steven Post.
Nearly 1,000 credit union advocates—including almost 300 first-time attendees—arrived at the Washington State Convention Center to take part in the conference, which offers networking opportunities and learning experiences focused on innovation and the future of the financial services industry.
Sheen, CEO and founder of because I said I would—a nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through the simple act of keeping promises—advises ACUC attendees to take actions that maximize the tools at their disposal.
“Do what you can with what you have,” Sheen says.
The conference runs through Wednesday.
