Counsel in the Wendy’s data breach lawsuit is interested in speaking with credit unions in New York and California that suffered losses related to the Wendy’s breach to determine whether they may be interested in becoming named plaintiffs in the lawsuit. CUNA, as well as 19 credit unions and three credit union leagues are currently named plaintiffs.
The suit stems from a data breach suffered by the Ohio-based fast food restaurant as early as fall 2015. It discovered unauthorized software in its payment processing computers, affecting as many as 6,000 locations.
A handful of cases were brought against Wendy’s, all alleging that Wendy’s failed to comply with industry standards to protect payment card and customer data, and those suits were consolidated into a single action last week.
