WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 30, 2016) -- The American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) has named Brad Miller, president/CEO of Palmetto Cooperative Services LLC, and former president/CEO of Southeast Corporate Federal Credit Union, as its new executive director, the organization announced today.
Miller's selection caps an extensive national search that attracted a strong and diverse slate of candidates for this key role.
Miller comes to AACUL with 25 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry. In addition to his time with Southeast Corporate and Palmetto, a financial services firm that supports credit unions in the United States and Canada, Miller has served as executive director of the Association of Corporate Credit Unions and as vice president of corporate relations for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
Miller will serve on CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle's Leadership Team and will be based in Washington, D.C., with dual reporting responsibilities to the AACUL Board and Nussle. He will start on April 18.
“We are very excited to bring Brad on as our new executive director,” said Mark Cummins, AACUL chair and president/CEO of the Minnesota Credit Union Network. “His experience working with the Leagues and his broad understanding of the issues they face create a strong foundation that he can leverage to immediately begin guiding this organization forward.”
AACUL is comprised of state credit union Leagues that are members of CUNA. The organization strives to create an environment that cultivates the success of the Leagues, both individually and collectively, and strengthens their vital role of protecting and fostering the credit union system.
“Brad arrives to the CUNA/League system at an exciting time,” said Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO and ex-officio member of the AACUL board. “Interdependence between CUNA and the Leagues remains critical to the continued success of the movement, and AACUL will play a central role in further strengthening those ties. Brad's experience demonstrates that he can effectively lead the organization's continued efforts in this regard.”
“I'm honored to have the opportunity to lead AACUL as it works to support the Leagues and their member credit unions,” Miller said. “I have a strong passion for serving this industry, particularly in the areas of advocacy and member relationships. I've had the privilege of working with credit union leaders nationwide, including many League CEOs and staff, as well as management and staff at CUNA and other system organizations. I look forward to building on those relationships as AACUL's executive director to further shape and advance the credit union movement.”
