CUNA was interviewed and provided input on a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released Tuesday on federal lending programs. The report, titled “Issues to Consider in Evaluating Opportunities to Consolidate Two Overlapping Single-Family Programs,” compares single-family home purchase loans guaranteed by the Rural Housing Service and the Federal Housing Administration.
CUNA was interviewed by the GAO to supplement interviews of mortgage lenders and to “gain perspective on mortgage lending in rural areas.”
The report does not make any new recommendations for RHS and FHA program, but maintains that the agencies should evaluate and report on opportunities to consolidate their similar housing programs.
