In a single day, nearly 10,000 votes, representing the communities of 824 credit unions, have participated in Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals nationwide “Vote for Miracles” campaign celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Credit Unions for Kids program.
From Nov. 29 through Dec. 20, credit unions and the general public can cast their votes to support their favorite CMN Hospital. The five hospitals with the most votes at the end of the campaign will be awarded a total of $100,000 on behalf of America’s credit unions, compliments of CO-OP Financial Services.
Credit unions that are actively promoting the campaign to members and staff as well as on social media are definitely seeing results.
“There is absolutely a correlation right now between credit unions who are actively promoting this initiative and the number of votes hospitals in their areas are receiving. They are well in the lead,” said Felicity Guerin, CUNA’s development manager for Credit Union for Kids, who is keeping a close watch on the voting.
Guerin also witnessed organizations outside the credit union movement picking up on a credit union’s promotion and amplifying it via their own social media accounts.
“What would be exciting to see is a credit union backing the votes its community casts with a pledge to make a donation to its local CMN hospital if it wins the promotion. I have seen this strategy drive votes and garner media attention in the past.”
Individuals can vote once a day over the course of the three-week campaign at www.VoteForMiracles.org.
Voting started Nov. 29 to intersect with “Giving Tuesday.” The hospital with the most votes will win $50,000. Second through fifth place will receive $20,000, $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
