The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will discuss debt collection at a public event Thursday, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (ET). The event will feature remarks from CFPB Director Richard Cordray and Washington, D.C., Attorney General Karl Racine, and will be streamed live online.
CUNA has been closely tracking CFPB debt collection pre-rule activity, and will be following Thursday’s discussion. Pre-rule activity includes a Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act (SBREFA) panel on third-party debt collection and the concurrent of an outline of proposals for a rule.
CUNA has also closely been following recent CFPB debt collection enforcement actions.
The CFPB is expected to also hold a SBREFA panel for first-party creditors this year.
