Gigi Hyland, executive director of the National Credit Union Foundation, told the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) audience Monday that one of the reasons she fell in love with her husband, Chris, was because of their mutual love of the “iconic Canadian band” RUSH.
She said the words of their song “Ceilings Unlimited,” which played as she came on stage, is truly appropriate for “this time, and this place.”
She quoted the lyrics: “Ceiling unlimited. World so wide, Turn and turn again. Feeling unlimited, still unsatisfied, changes never end.”
“One thing that never changes is that at this conference you can have 5,000 people together and feel the power of possibility; a common energy, drive and passion to improve people’s lives, the sense that we are part of something bigger than ourselves.
“We at the Foundation see that power of possibility every single day—credit union people helping each other and also their members. We bring resources to bear to help you serve your members better.”
Hyland has been the Foundation’s executive director since 2013. Prior to that she served as a member of the three-person National Credit Union Administration board from 2005 until October 2012.
