California Credit Union President/CEO Ron McDaniel, an "excellent ambassador for the credit union movement," received the Buck Levins Award on Tuesday at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC).
The award, named after a former CUNA chairman, is awarded annually to individuals who are viewed as exemplary pacesetters and leaders in credit union activism at state and national levels.
“Ron has done a great job, not only with his state league, but nationally on behalf of all of us and on behalf of CUNA,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “We thank him, and I hope he inspires all of you to step up in your advocacy roles as part of our advocacy army.”
McDaniel’s career spans 23 years in credit unions, and he has been the president/CEO of $1.6 billion asset California Credit Union in Glendale since 2004. He has served on the board of CUNA and of the California Credit Union League.
Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) honored McDaniel on the floor of Congress Monday, in advance of McDaniel’s upcoming retirement next month.
“Ron is an excellent ambassador for the credit union movement,” Sherman said. “I have enjoyed my many conversations with Ron over the years about how credit unions can better serve individuals and small businesses.”
