Within Sunday’s Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, more than 540 Congressional staffers will be participating in the annual Cherry Blossom Capitol Hill Competition. Sponsored by Congressional FCU and U.S. Senate FCU, House and Senate staffers will compete for the Capitol Hill Cup, which will be awarded to the team with the best race time.
In addition, 190 members of Congress representing 44 states, American Samoa, Washington, D.C. and Guam have volunteered to serve as honorary race chairs.
The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is part of the Credit Union Family of Races, which will present a $580,485 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Other races taking place Sunday to benefit CMNH include the Credit Union SacTown Run in Sacramento, Calif. and 2 Freedom Races in Kuwait and Germany.
Credit unions became the title sponsor of the D.C. SacTown races in 2002, and more than $8 million has been raised for CMNHs nationwide since then through a collaboration of more than 100 credit unions and business partners.
