NCUA Chair J. Mark McWatters will testify before the Senate Banking Committee Thursday, as part of the committee’s focus on fostering economic growth. The committee previously hosted two other hearings on this topic, one in which CUNA testified. This one will focus on economic growth from the regulators’ perspective.
INOVA FCU CEO and CUNA board member Dallas Bergl testified before the committee earlier in June, bringing a number of common-sense regulatory solutions to the committee. During the hearing itself, a number of committee members also spoke of the need for common-sense regulatory reform.
In addition to McWatters, heads of the Federal Reserve board of governors, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and a representative of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors will testify.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (ET) Thursday, and will be streamed live on the committee’s website.
