The Iowa Credit Union League is among the sponsors of the 2017 Midwestern Legislative Conference Annual Meeting, to be held July 9-12, in Des Moines, Iowa.
The event is organized by the Council of State Governments, a nonpartisan association of state officials serving all three branches of government in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
“Credit unions play a vital role in driving economic growth, and we are proud to be a key sponsor of this conference,” said Jon Murphy, Iowa Credit Union League director of government affairs. "This is a great opportunity to meet with state policymakers and discuss critical state issues such as economic development and taxation."
Among the topics to be discussed during the meeting will be state taxation and economic development, Murphy said.
“We will take this opportunity to provide information to legislators about how credit unions help drive economic development, and how the credit union tax difference benefits Iowans,” Murphy said.
Over 300 legislators are expected at this important legislative event. Advocates will share credit union information sharing will take place at the various legislative networking opportunities during the conference, as well as attend conference break outs related to financial services.
