CUNA is relocating its Washington, D.C. office. The largest national trade association serving America’s credit unions will move to a new development at 99 M Street, S.E. in Washington, DC.
The move from CUNA’s current location at 601 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W. is expected to be completed by spring of 2018, and allows CUNA to maintain its unique presence as the only credit union trade organization with offices in Washington, D.C.
The CUNA board of directors considered and endorsed the move earlier in the year.
CUNA will lease roughly 22,000 square feet of office space on the third-floor of Skanska’s 99M development, a 234,000-square-foot office building currently under construction in Washington, D.C.’s Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.
“The vibrant neighborhood we’re moving to maintains our close connection to Capitol Hill and I know our membership will appreciate the long-term savings we’ll realize in this new space,” said Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO.
CUNA staff, including Nussle, will work in an open, modular environment to encourage collaboration. Meeting rooms will be situated along exterior walls with interior glass partitions to allow as much light into the space as possible. Smaller, private spaces will be available for smaller meetings, private phone calls, and quiet work space.
The 11-story 99M is steps from both Navy Yard-Ballpark Metrorail entrances and seven blocks from the U.S. Capitol. It will include roughly 11,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space on the ground floor. The building will also feature a green roof and rooftop terrace, secure bicycle storage and four levels of underground parking.
