CUNA encourages its members to continue to press elected officials to support the bipartisan Amodei-Aguilar amendment on NCUA.
The Amodei-Aguilar amendment would prevent the NCUA from being put under the appropriations process, a move which would effectively be a tax on credit unions.
The House could vote on an appropriations bill (H.R. 3354) in that would include such a provision in coming days. A CUNA-supported amendment to the bill, offered by Reps. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) and Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), would remove that language from H.R. 3354. CUNA issued an action alert last week for credit union stakeholders to contact their elected officials to support the Amodei-Aguilar amendment, and CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle followed up Sunday with a call to action, sending supports to CUNA’s Grassroots Action Center to reach out to their legislators.
