Sixty-six credit union professionals earned the Credit Union HR Compliance Professional (CUHRCP) designation at the 2017 CUNA HR Compliance Certification School, in partnership with CU Doctor, held July 23-26, in Orlando, Fla.
“Through their coursework and demonstration of knowledge by passing the exam, these students have demonstrated that they have the skills to run a compliant HR department at their credit union,” said Melisa Kallestad, CUNA compliance instructional design manager. “I’m impressed with their dedication and want to congratulate all of the designees for their commitment to their field.”
CUNA HR Compliance Certification School, in partnership with CU Doctor, provides a practical education on the unique compliance responsibilities of HR professionals in the credit union industry. The school’s expert-led classes address regulatory requirements in key HR areas, including wage and payroll administration, employee classification, safety in the workplace, harassment and discrimination protections, pre-employment screening, leave policies, retirement benefits and more.
Upon completing the school, students had the opportunity to test for the CUHRCP designation and were also able to earn Society for Human Resource Management and Human Resources Certification Institute credits.
“The credit union industry is constantly evolving and our HR departments are responsible for one of our largest assets in our people.” said Diane Reed, president of CU Doctor, LLC. “It’s refreshing to have the opportunity to work with credit union professionals from across the country about the issues they are dealing with daily.”
Next year’s CUNA HR Compliance Certification School is scheduled for July 29-Aug. 1 in Denver.
