Rachel Guyselman, vice president of operations at Tongass FCU, Ketchikan, Alaska, is the recipient of the 2017 CUNA Emerging Leader Award.
The CUNA Emerging Leader Award, endorsed by the CUNA Young Professionals Committee, is recognizes young credit union professionals who go above and beyond their job description, demonstrating strong leadership and a passion for the credit union movement.

“Rachel was hired at the HR Associate position three years ago,” said Helen Mickel, Tongass FCU president/CEO. “She quickly demonstrated an aptitude for operations and marketing and was promoted within about 18 months “Her work at the credit union has brought us up-to-date on social media, improved our online presence and she has led several initiatives to improve employee and operational services.”
“Guyselman’s creative thinking and problem-solving skills along with her promotion of the credit union movement through community involvement as a member of the Chamber of Commerce board and local Rotary Club made her an excellent choice for this award,” said Kristin Ryan, CUNA director of earning events.
Guyselman will be recognized at the CUNA Emerging Leader Institute Award Reception on Dec. 4, in San Diego. In addition, she will receive complimentary registration and a 3-night hotel stay at the event and her accomplishments will be highlighted in Credit Union Magazine.
