The 2017 #VoteforMiracles promotion ends today after establishing a record of more than 500,000 votes over the three-week campaign. The voting, which will conclude at 11:59 P.M. CST this evening, is expected to heat up over the final few hours as the competition remains tight among the leading hospitals vying for $100,000 in prize money.
The hospital with the most votes when voting ends this evening will be awarded $50,000. Second through fifth place will receive $20,000, $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The $100,000 gift is on behalf of America’s credit unions and is made possible by CO-OP Financial Services and CU Direct.
With the clock ticking down, the battle for the top five spots mains very competitive with Hurley Children’s Hospital in Flint, MI leading the way. Mercy Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, continues to hold onto second place followed by El Paso Children’s Hospital, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville, Pa. Several hospitals outside the top five still remain in the running.
“With a record 500,000 votes tallied since the start of Vote for Miracles, we are delighted with the response,” said John Lauck, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals president/CEO. “It’s inspiring to see so many people enthusiastically supporting their respective CMN Hospital led by our wonderful credit union partners.”
Among the celebrities highlighting the contest on social media was Lady Antebellum, who has 2.57 million followers. Other celebrity tweeting on behalf of #VoteforMiracles include Marie Osmond, Alli Simpson, Mark Wills and Bill Engvall.
Designed to engage consumers, #VoteForMiracles hopes to drive awareness of credit unions by highlighting the credit union difference. During the voting process, voters are asked to “Choose their Credit Union.” The credit union that generates the most votes for the winning Children’s Miracle Network Hospital will be invited to be part of the check presentation at the culmination of the event.
