Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Acting Director Mick Mulvaney, Rep. Sean. Duffy and a two keynote speakers were among the onstage highlights at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference Tuesday. The day's activities also included breakout sessions on everything from the outlook for this year's elections to an economic update.
Wednesday's schedule includes a morning general session with keynoter Amy Walter and several prominent members of Congress.
Mulvaney spelled out several goals for the future of the CFPB that align with CUNA's goals, particularly those of CUNA's Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation. He said the bureau would focus on the bad actors, while striving to minimize impact of bureau rules on credit unions and others who do right by consumers.
