Though CUNA and state credit unions leagues maintained contact with members of Congress during consideration of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), credit unions around the country took to the pages of local newspapers and other media outlets to demonstrate the numerous ways the bill will help them serve their communities better.
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle penned several op-eds about the need for the bill, and also appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box in March. CUNA Vice President of Research and Policy Analysis Mike Schenk discussed the bill’s positive impacts on consumer credit with the Washington Examiner in April.
In addition, Credit unions and leagues around the country placed more than 60 op-eds and letters to the editors in local papers in 26 states.
