Speaker of the House John Boehner will address CUNA’s 2011 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington March 2.
“Given his very busy schedule and many responsibilities, we are truly honored to have the Speaker join us at our industry’s premier governmental event,” says CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney. “We view his acceptance of our invitation as recognition of the work credit unions do to provide affordable financial services to millions of American consumers, and we look forward to hearing Mr. Boehner’s comments on the House priorities in the year ahead.”
CUNA’s GAC takes place Feb. 27 – March 3 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Boehner will address the GAC during the March 2 general session.
Additional members of Congress confirmed thus far to speak during the conference include House Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-AL), and the committee’s ranking minority member Barney Frank (D-MA).
Also appearing at the GAC will be Reps. Ed Royce (R-CA), Shelly Moore Capitol (R-WVA), and Steve Stivers (R-OH) also of the Financial Services Committee, and Senate Banking Committee members Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Jon Tester (D-MT).
The GAC program also includes Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO), author of last year’s legislation to raise the statutory cap on credit union small-business lending, newly elected Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), Elizabeth Warren, the architect of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created by the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act, NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz, and NCUA Board Members Gigi Hyland and Michael Fryzel.
