Leadership program offers the opportunity to broaden professional expertise and deepen cultural understanding.
April 1, 2013
World Council of Credit Unions’ International Credit Union Leadership Program offers the opportunity to broaden professional expertise and deepen cultural understanding through two-week internships in credit unions around the world.
Participants live with host families and work with foreign counterparts, exchanging ideas and solving problems to serve members.
In 2012, U.S. credit union staff, league representatives, and board members participated in exchange programs to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Meanwhile, 20 Dominicans and Guatemalans interned in California, Iowa, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
In 2013, the Texas Credit Union League & Affiliates, League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates, and Northwest Credit Union Association will help World Council identify host credit unions for Costa Rican and Brazilian interns.
World Council will select U.S. applicants to participate in upcoming programs in Costa Rica, June 9-22, 2013, and Brazil, Jan. 12-25, 2014.
Interested candidates should submit applications for the Costa Rica program by April 12 and for the Brazil program by mid-November (an official deadline is pending). Sponsoring credit unions are responsible only for airfare costs.
