MADISON, Wis. (4/16/15)--CUNA's award-winning social media campaign, Don't Tax My Credit Union, hit the Internet again Wednesday, as CUNA reminded policymakers about the benefits that all consumers receive because of credit unions' not-for-profit tax status.
CUNA's campaign, which coincided with Tax Day, noted the fact that credit union members already pay taxes--a total of $1.2 trillion in 2014.
With banks continuing to pursue an end to the not-for-profit tax status, CUNA reiterated that doing so would be an additional tax on middle-class consumers. (See related story: Nussle highlights the many benefits of CU tax status in letter to Senate.)
