MADISON, Wis. (10/15/14)--Credit unions served up good cheer and generated money for local businesses Tuesday as part of CU Lunch Local, a cash mob held in celebration of International Credit Union Day.
Credit unions in 13 states participated in CU Lunch Local, which was founded by credit union service organization Michigan Business Connection and Michigan credit unions in 2012. Participants promote local businesses by making purchases or buying meals for people at local restaurants.
Credit unions promoted their activities on the CU Lunch Local Facebook page, and the #CULunchLocal hashtag helped spread the word in social media.
