Through Oct. 16, which is ICU Day, the league is encouraging state credit union chapters to run food drives under the "Meeting the Needs of Millions" campaign (Leaguer Sept. 3).
The objectives are to raise awareness about the credit union difference to even more consumers and to show the growing strength of credit unions as a positive force in providing financial services to consumers and small businesses.
The holidays are not that far away, and summer supplies at food banks are running low. Food drives are among the many ways credit unions can show their cooperative nature and commitment to their communities, Leaguer noted.
In June, the Credit Union National Association announced credit union membership had surpassed the 100 million membership mark. The milestone has been widely noted, including a front-page "Snapshot" in Tuesday's USA Today (News Now Sept. 3)
