MADISON, Wis. (3/6/15)--Female credit union leaders can now apply for the 2015 Global Women's Leadership Network scholarship, the World Council of Credit Unions announced this week. Applications are due April 3.
The scholarship program aims to advance credit union women in leadership roles worldwide finding emerging leaders and giving them access to resources available to the women's leadership network.
Eligible candidates must be female credit union leaders between the ages of 18 to 35 from emerging regions, which excludes Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Poland and the United States.
Recipients will be invited to attend the 2015 Global Women's Leadership Forum during the World Credit Union Conference, set for July 12-15 in Denver. The conference takes place simultaneously with CUNA's 2015 America's Credit Union Conference.
During the World Credit Union Conference, selected candidates will present project proposals for network members to review. Selected projects will receive the Empowerment Grant, which provides participants access to loans, credit and financial education to help them complete their projects.
Last year, the grant winner worked with a multipurpose cooperative in the Philippines to establish a business development center to help advance women members' entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and to provide access to markets and information for micro and small enterprise developments.
To apply, candidates should submit two-part scholarship and Empowerment Grant applications to CUwomen@woccu.org. Successful candidates will be chosen by April 20.
