DETROIT (9/4/14)--More than 200 members, employees, families and friends of Community Choice CU, Farmington Hills, Mich., with $531 million in assets, took part in the sixth annual "Give Big Weekend" last month, donating more than 1,100 volunteer hours to various efforts within the Detroit area-based community the credit union serves.

Volunteers worked at local food pantries, participated in blood drives and helped out with a number of other charitable causes as part of the annual campaign to give time and talents to community causes (The Oakland Press Sept. 2).
"Our Give Big Weekend is always an exciting time for members and team members to roll up our sleeves and hit the streets to help our neighbors," Abbey Bierlein, Community Choice foundation coordinator, told The Oakland Press. "The weekend of events really captures the essence of who we are as an organization. We're living our mission to give back to the community."
