LIVONIA, Mich. (10/8/14)--Credit unions across Michigan received awards for their achievements in promoting financial literacy and providing excellence in service for both their members and their communities.
The Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education Awards honor credit union efforts in personal finance education of members and nonmembers.

The Desjardin adult financial literacy winner in the more than $500 million-asset category was Michigan First CU, Lathrup Village, with $695 million in assets.
The Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award goes to a credit union for its practical application of credit union philosophy to internal programs and services that benefit membership, other than personal finance education.

The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award is given to a credit union or credit union group for external activities supporting social responsibility projects within the community.
