FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (4/30/14)--The Cornerstone Credit Union League has formed a new body to serve credit union volunteers throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, the three states represented by the league (Leaguer April 29).
The newly created Cornerstone Volunteers Council will bring together those who share a common interest in the credit union movement, and will allow them to communicate, educate and network in one centralized location.
"Cornerstone understands volunteers play an integral and crucial role in fostering a credit union's success," the league said in its newsletter.
Membership, which will be free in 2014, offers volunteers access to a members-only resource website with forums and document-sharing; opportunities to network, share best practices and learn from the experiences of others; educational opportunities; and mentoring.
The league is also looking for volunteers to serve on the executive committee that will help develop and promote council membership. Responsibilities for an executive committee member include quarterly conference calls with Cornerstone staff, occasional in-person meetings, and sharing resources and ideas with the council.
All applications for the executive committee are due May 16. To register or learn more about the council use the resource links.
