Jersey Shore FCU in Northfield, N.J. held a groundbreaking ceremony on ICU Day at their newest location. CU board Members, staff, local officials, and others involved with the project were present.


Hershey FCU in Hershey, Pa. celebrated ICU Day by offering refreshments and snacks to members who visited the CU's three branches. Members who attended the celebration were entered to win a $50 gift card at each location. There was a coloring contest for youth members to win a "Trusty" teddy bear and a piggy bank. The CU also offered a free HFCU tote bag to members who opened an account or got a new loan during the celebration.

Lafayette Schools FCU

Lafayette Schools FCU in Lafayette, La. celebrated ICU Day and members with refreshments, giveaways, Halloween bags for kids, and a free "Shred Day." Members shredded more than 3,700 pounds of paper. 


Service 1st FCU in Danville, Pa. encouraged members to stop by a local branch to grab a snack and say "hi." Throughout the week, the CU shared special facts about why CUs are a smarter choice than banks or other financial institutions.

South Bay CU in Redondo Beach, Calif. celebrated with cookies and balloons. Employees also asked members why they liked the CU. "Our members had such great things to say," says President/CEO Jennifer Oliver.

Great Erie FCU

Great Erie FCU in Orchard Park, N.Y. celebrated ICU Day with donuts and cider. The CU also handed out RFID-blocking protective sleeves and information about identity and fraud protection.

Northumberland County Schools FCU in Milton, Pa. held a two-day cookout with the board, serving hotdogs and homemade soup, as well as cookies, coffee, and cider. Additionally, the CU held its fourth annual "Shred Fest" so members could securely shred financial documents.

Bannvale CU in Northern Ireland offered face painting, balloons, toys, and "colouring" for local kids on ICU Day. The CU also held a drawing for a food gift basket referred to as a "hamper" in Ireland.


Northland Area FCU in Oscoda, Mich. provided employees with pink shirts during ICU Day week. For every shirt ordered, the CU donated $5 to Relay for Life. In this photo, employees from the CU's Skidway Lake Branch, Katie Quigley, Heaven Snider, Roxanne Hewitt, and Sandy Carlson, display the shirts. The effort raised $400 for cancer research.


SchoolsFirst FCU in Santa Ana, Calif. hosted a group from the Kamphangpeth Teachers Savings and Credit Cooperative in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand on ICU Day. The Cooperative visited SchoolsFirst FCU to learn about many topics, including products and services for school employees, management best practices, and board governance. The visit concluded with a tour of the CU’s flagship branch office and a reception where both leadership teams were able to share ideas and enjoy a cake featuring the ICU Day logo. 

Sherwin Williams ECU in South Holland, Ill. celebrated ICU Day for an entire week. The CU's "Spirit Week" included a crazy sock day, twin day, sports day, and breast cancer awareness day.

Otero FCU in Alamogordo, N.M. offered refreshments to members, giving branch managers an opportunity to converse about ICU Day and CU philosophy. 

Secure Shredding in Kansas

Farmway CU in Beloit, Kan. hired a secure shredding business to provide shredding services to members of the community for ICU Day. In addition to handing out magnetic clips all week and holding a dime-guessing competition, the CU served members cupcakes, popcorn, and punch.

Erie County Employees Credit Union

Erie County Employees CU in Buffalo, N.Y. passed out donuts, cookies, cider, pens, nail files and more.

UMassFive College FCU purchased long-sleeve "Members Matter Most" t-shirts for all staff and had allowed members to participate in an cooperative art project in the lobby. Members were encouraged to write what they wanted about CUs on an autumn-colored paper leaf and then hang it on a real tree display. Members wrote and hung more than 750 leaves among all the CU branches. Branches also provided food and beverages to members during the entire week and handed out ICU Day/International Year of Cooperative tote bags and other goodies created by UMassFive.

To celebrate ICU Day, Mission FCU in San Diego added a local twist by creating an employee appreciation day. It included a pizza party, casual dress, and a special proclamation to recognize employees for their dedication to member service signed by Mission FCU President/CEO Debra Schwartz.
Goldenwest CU in Ogden, Utah picked two credit union fans to win a $50 Visa Gift Card using social media.


Anheuser-Busch Employees’ CU in St. Louis, Mo. offered these goodies on ICU Day to members.

North Island CU in San Diego welcomed members on ICU Day with refreshments.


Mark Condon

Mark Condon, senior vice president of business and consumer publishing for CUNA, gave presentations about credit union history to CUNA staff in Madison, Wis.


SC Telco

A South Carolina TV station interviews Gervis Nina, an international CU intern working at SC Telco FCU in Greenville. Nina, visiting from the Dominican Republic, is here as part of the State Department’s Professional Fellows Program. “He’s just one example of the difference ‘cooperation’ makes in the financial industry,” says Terri Hendrix, the CU’s community relations manager.


Graham Fields, special assistant to the president for external relations from Park Ridge Health stopped by Mountain CU to say "hi" during our Member Appreciation Day and ICU Day celebration in Fletcher, N.C.


Harlingen Area Teachers' CU is celebrating ICU Day by handing out candy and making sure to let members know that they matter.


  Celebrating 54 years serving members, Complex Community FCU in Odessa, Texas, is celebrating ICU Day by ‘committing’ 54 Intentional Acts of Kindness. Everything from delivering stuffed animals to kids in the hospital to taking muffins and cookies to first responders.

This video from six Young & Free spokesters was created to celebrate and promote ICU Day.


"We put together this video doing the 'Locomotion' all over the world in different countries. We like to show our different personalities and how much fun it is to work at a credit union and serve our members.  We all also had our custom made “U Matter Most” shirts on for this as well," says Don Emmer at Best Advantage CU.
