MADISON, Wis. (5/1/15)--CUNA expanded its annual youth financial literacy campaign to a full month this year, and the response from credit unions was overwhelming for the new National Credit Union Youth Month.
"I'm in awe of the way credit unions have embraced the move from just a week to celebrating youth the entire month of April," said Joanne Sepich, CUNA director of consumer education.
National Credit Union Youth Month is proof that financial education can be fun, she noted, adding that credit unions can learn from each other at #CUYouthMonth to maintain the momentum and magic in financial education year-round.
#CUYouthMonth has been the hashtag to watch on social media, Sepich said, where credit unions post photos and stories of how they have engaged youth.
"The creativity on display is breathtaking," she added. "Honestly, from the pictures, I don't know who is having more fun--the staff or the children."
