LONGVIEW, Texas (5/1/15)--Eastman CU donated $100,000 to the Longview World of Wonders campaign to complete its Discovery Center in downtown Longview, Texas (Longview News-Journal April 30). The credit union, which is headquartered in Kingsport, Tenn., but has branches in Longview, Texas, also wants to provide financial education programs through the Discovery Center. The credit union also pledged to provide volunteers for the center. "The plan is to work on partnership ideas where some of our workers could go to the center and maybe give classes to single mothers on financial management and talk about how to manage a checking book, buy a home or understand a credit score," said Kelly Price, Eastman CU vice president of operations. CHEYENNE, Wyo. (5/1/15)--Meridian Trust President/CEO Kim Withers recently was appointed to the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. The council provides input to the Federal Reserve Bank and its senior management on the economy, lending conditions and other issues from around the region, which covers Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, northern New Mexico and western Missouri ...

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (5/1/15)--United FCU (UFCU), St. Joseph, Mich., announced the retirement of two of its leaders. President/CEO Gary Easterling is planning to retire later this year after 32 years in credit unions. Prior to joining UFCU as president/CEO in 2007, Easterling was president/CEO of Century FCU, Cleveland. "By announcing my plans now, I can give our board the opportunity to seek my successor in a transparent way that provides for the smoothest possible transition," Easterling said. Board Chair J.B. Hoyt will retire from the board June 30.  Hoyt, who has served for 28 years on the board, made his announcement as part of a multiyear plan that he introduced to the board two years ago aimed at advancing management and governance capabilities.
