ATLANTA (5/7/15)--Home Depot may soon offer Apple Pay, which would make the home improvement retail giant one of the largest vendors to offer Apple’s mobile payment solution, Bloomberg Business reported Wednesday.
Also, Apple announced that an additional 24 financial institutions had signed agreements to offer Apple Pay, including 22 credit unions. This brings the number of participating banks and credit unions to nearly 250.
Home Depot does not have formal agreement in place with Apple yet. Although not an official partner, the company was accepting Apple Pay at select locations equipped with near-field communication (NFC) terminals.
Home Depot’s confirmation that it wants Apple Pay comes after rumors surfaced that it had given up the service. Apple Pay stopped working at some Home Depot locations as a result of upgrades to the company’s point-of-sale system, Bloomberg reported.
Among the other retailers that have partnered with Apple are Walgreens, Bloomingdale’s, Foot Locker, Nike, Office Depot, Staples, McDonald's and Toys R Us.
